Song of the Sea Pentatonic Harp - 10 String

In stock

A gentle-sounding instrument, this high quality Pentatonic Harp (also known as a Kinder Harp or Pentatonic Lyre) is made of solid cherry, a beautiful light-reddish-brown hardwood, and durable.

This harp is tuned in the same 5-note scale (DEGABdegab) as traditional 7-string pentatonic harps, but because this instrument has 10 strings, it provides a wider range of octaves and a greater variety of melodies that can be played. It can also be tuned in the diatonic scale (CDEFGABcde), giving it more versatility.

A Kinder Harp is an ideal instrument for accompanying stories and singing, with every note in harmony, and are commonly used in Waldorf schools.

Each Kinder Harp package includes:

  • Solid cherry Pentatonic Harp
  • Tuning wrench
  • Instructions on how to tune and care for the instrument
  • Thickly padded case*

Finished with a child-safe semigloss lacquer. The instrument can be cleaned with a soft cloth. (Do not apply wax, which could cause the finish to become cloudy.)

More About This Product

I have tested and played virtually every kinderharp and lyre currently available, and in my opinion, the Song of the Sea Harps represent the best value in this price range, offering exceptional quality and tone.

Designed by a small family business here on the coast of Maine, the instrument was designed to be sturdy with well fitting tuning pins, which allow it to be tuned easily, and stay in tune.
