Astrid Lindgren (1906-2002) was a known for creating memorable characters, most famously the prankster Pippi Longstocking. She received many awards in her lifetime, including Hans Christian Andersen, and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award for Pippi Longstocking in 1973.

The Tomten was one of our very favorite picture books when my boys were young. This sweet and comforting story, beautifully illustrated by Harald Wiberg, makes the perfect bedtime story to read aloud on a cold winter's night!
