"I can't imagine how I managed to be unfamiliar with Elsa Beskow's beautiful book for so many years. We received this book a year ago, and my six year old consistently refers to it as his "favorite, most special" book -- although he loves many, many books, some of them more "advanced" chapter books, etc., this is one picture book that captures the imaginations of my six and three year old boys equally well -- it seems the story and the incredible illustrations in "Peter..." are just captivating for a child of any age. The story is gentle, engaging, and whimsical, one that you can -- and will -- read over and over again.
