Hedgehog Wooden Cutting Board
Looking for a way to encourage young helpers in the kitchen?
This charming hedgehog-shaped wooden cutting board will make kids want to help chop vegetables or slice bread for meal time!
Also known in Germany as a "breakfast board," Europeans have traditionally used these boards to serve children a meal of cheese, fruit and bread. The hole in the nose is sized to hold a boiled egg, but also allows the board to be conveniently hung for storage.
In my kindergarten class, every Tuesday was "Soup Day." Each child would bring in a vegetable to contribute to our pot of delicious "Stone Soup" and the morning was spent scrubbing the vegetables clean, then chopping them with small cutting boards like this one.
The chopped vegetables would be put in wooden bowls, before being carried carefully to the stove to add to our big pot!
