Many Waldorf schools teach paper marbling, along with bookbinding as a part of their practical arts curriculum.

Our Marbling Kit comes with:

6 - ½ oz Bottles of Marbling Colors (red, blue, yellow, black, green, and whit)
1 - 5 oz Alum Mordant (to spray onto paper to prepare it for marbling)
1 - 2 oz Sizing (to hold the colors)

Also included are detailed instructions, as well as descriptions of some common marbling patterns.

What is paper marbling? Picture the multicolored endpapers of an antique book, and you'll be on the right track.

Developed during the Renaissance, marbling technique involves creating a swirling pattern of paint that floats on the surface of a semisolid medium. Paper or fabric is then laid on the surface to pick up the floating paint and transfer the design.

Use it for unique gift wraps, greeting cards— or transfer to fabric to create one-of-a-kind wearable art!
