Waldorf Rocker Board

Rocker Boards have become extremely popular in Waldorf early childhood classrooms not only for their developmental benefits, but especially for their great open-ended play value. They can be played with in such a wide variety of ways.

They were created to help children develop their sense of balance, and are also excellent for stimulating the vestibular system and a child's sense of proprioception (awareness of his or her physical body and its parts).

One board can be used as a balance board, see-saw, balance beam, bridge, slide or rocking cradle; a pair of rocking boards doubles the fun for two children! Put four together and they form a circle in which children build homes or cozy nests in which to rest.

Fun to use indoors or outside!

Each beautifully hand-finished board is constructed of nine layers of poplar plywood, and crafted to a precise curve, before being sanded smooth, and finished with a child-safe, water-based varnish.

Available in your choice of three finishes, each embossed with a beautiful sunburst logo.

Natural (light) with Blue Logo

Walnut - (dark) with Yellow Logo

If you've ever visited a Waldorf early childhood classroom, you've likely seen a pair or more of curved wooden rocking / balance boards like these.

Ask any Waldorf kindergarten teacher, and she'll probably tell you that the Rocker Boards are the most played with objects in the classroom! I had four in my classroom, and for two years after taking over Bella Luna Toys, I searched far and wide for someone who could make these unique and valuable toys for me.

I cannot sing the praises of this toy highly enough. Highly recommended Waldorf toy!

"This board is probably one of the *best* toys our daughter has ever received. She got if for her 6th birthday, and it was the clear winner! She is very active and physical, and this board is great to help her when she needs an outlet for that. She is finding lots of uses for it other than rocking. Our 10-month-old son loves it as well, and my husband and I sneak turns on it when our daughter isn't around! Very relaxing, and also great exercise. Skip an expensive party for your child and buy one of these instead!"

"When first I heard about rocker boards on a list serve a few years back, I searched desperately for one, only to be left empty-handed. I gave up the search, but I never forgot about the unique toy that would offer so many benefits to my children. Enter Bella Luna Toys. To say that I was excited to see handmade rocker toys here is an understatement. I nearly jumped for joy (okay, I DID jump for joy).
