For this week's special project, children can create their very own felt-covered sketchbook. A place to collect drawings, stories, observations, and imaginative ideas throughout your outdoor adventures. Using colorful felt pieces and simple appliqué sewing designs or glue (if you prefer!), each notebook becomes a one-of-a-kind creation, that will be by your children's side through every book, activity, and moment of inspiration this summer.

Supplies You'll Need for Your DIY Felt Sketchbook:
These are the tools and materials we used to create the felt sketchbook tutorial:
- Felt sheets
- Embroidery thread

How to Make your Own Felt Sketchbook:
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
First we gather our materials! You will need a few sheets of felt, embroidery thread, needle, and thick paper.

Step 2: Cut Your Paper
Cut your paper into two strips as shown below.

Step 3: Fold Your Paper
Fold your paper in half and place on the table with the crease down.

Step 4:
Lay your paper flat and using your needle, poke holes down the center of your paper.

Step 5:
Lay your paper on top of your felt and cut your felt to fit around the paper, leaving a 1/4 inch of extra width around as shown below.

Step 6: Sew the paper onto felt.
Sew your paper to one piece of your felt up the middle as shown below.

Step 7:
Cut out your felt shapes and lay on top of your second strip of felt.

Step 8:
Sew your felt pieces down.

Step 9:
Lay your top sheet of felt on top of your bottom felt sheet (one attached to the paper) and do a blanket stitch around the entire outside edge to seal.

Step 10: Enjoy your DIY sketchbook!
Enjoy your new sketch book.
