As winter slowly softens and our days begin to stretch toward the light, we find ourselves drawn to moments of quiet making. Simple acts of creativity that warm both the hands and the heart. Valentine’s Day, with all its symbolism of love and connection, feels like the perfect time to pause and create something beautiful together.
We were inspired by our favorite Grimm's Heart Blocks and we'll paint our Valentine's transparency using Stockmar watercolor paints and specially designed transparency paper for the Toverlux Night Light. But you can choose whatever design captures your unique heart! Whether you’re creating alongside a child or savoring a quiet creative moment for yourself, this project is an invitation to explore color and the beauty of light during the heart of winter.

Get Inspired & Create
Start by laying out your plan in pencil. Keep your lines light, or gently run your eraser over them to leave a faint outline to guide your paintbrush. We felt inspired by our favorite Valentine's toy and used the blocks to create our outlines.

Once you've decided on your layout, paint the background in a gentle red wash. We added a border detail and then allowed our page to fully dry. Avoid overusing water or overworking the paper. While it can handle watercolors, it's not designed specifically for them and can begin to pill with too much friction.

Paint your final details over the background layer and let it fully dry to avoid getting any color transfer onto your Toverlux lamp.

These handmade moments, rooted in care and creativity, become quiet reminders of love in its many forms. May your Valentine’s light shine through the season, illuminating both your space and the joy of creating something beautiful together.
