About Grapat

In the Catalan language, the word grapat means “a handful” and each Grapat product is inspired by the beautiful idea of carrying a handful of loose pieces with care and passing them into the hands of children. The motto of this small, family run Spanish company is “be free, play open” as everything they create promotes imagination and open-ended play. These exquisitely hand-crafted wooden toys originate from sustainable forests and are painted with dyes that come directly from nature and will be treasured for generations.

So special!!

"Cannot wait to open these with my toddler this Christmas season! I did a little peeking and it looks so magical!"

Simply magical

"There are simply no words to adequately describe this advent calendar, but I’ll try. My son is still pretty young so I opened up each box ahead of the Christmas season just to gauge the contents, check the difficulty level of the boxes containing activities/projects, etc…. First off, the quality is exactly what you’d expect from Grapat - the pieces are gorgeously painted and extremely well-executed. I’ll forever be blown away by their attention to detail. The actual boxes each day is contained inside are very pretty, as well. The calendar comes with a booklet that explains each day and wow, the thought they put into the stories behind all the toys and activities within the box blew me away. Each day feels truly meaningful, and I think Grapat struck the perfect balance between the inclusion of loose parts/dolls, and more complicated activities/play sets/crafts. The last thing I’ll say is that I think you get an astounding amount of value for what you’re paying for, here. I know the price is steep-ish but I genuinely believe you’re getting a great deal for all the contents. The pieces in this set can and will be used beyond just the holiday season - almost nothing is strictly “Christmas” themed. I’m a grown woman and was positively tickled opening all of these little boxes - I can’t imagine how kids will feel! Grapat has outdone themselves and I’m so excited to start this Advent tradition with my son."

— Alexandra D. (5/5)

Beautiful advent calendar

"We are looking forward to this advent calendar. Grapat calendars are always brimming with surprises and beautiful, meaningful gifts perfect for imaginative play. While we haven't opened the advent calendar yet, I can say the boxes are beautiful and sturdy. I did not peek, but I did reorganize the inside boxes so they more closely approximate the order of opening. Many of the boxes seem lighter than those of past years and not rattly ( as if they contain soft materials and not wooden parts), but I remain hopeful about the contents. This is definitely a splurge for us, but it is one tradition that my children really seem to enjoy."

— Emily S. (5/5)

Family Tradition: Fourth year!

"This has now become a holiday tradition for our family. Fourth year running! I’ll admit, I enjoy the advent calendar more than my kids. But it’s a nice little gift to myself each year."

— Cassandra N. (5/5)
