2026 April Activity Calendar

April 1 - Craft Wet Felted Easter Eggs

Wet felting is a common handwork practice in Waldorf schools, beginning in early childhood. Working with the natural wool is an excellent way to engage children's hands and hearts.

April 2 - Volunteer at a Local Aid Center

Take a moment and see how you can volunteer and get involved with a local aid center. With all the blessing we are often given, it is nice to give back!

April 3 -  Sew a Simple Garden or Kitchen Apron

Made with your fabric of choice, this easy DIY apron is ideal for beginner sewers, homeschool craft time, or as a seasonal Waldorf activity. Whether your child is harvesting herbs in the backyard or baking muffins beside you in the kitchen, this handmade apron will keep their clothes clean and their hearts full.

April 4 -  Make a Pledge to Help the Earth All Year Long

What are a few things you can do that will lessen your impact on the environment? Can you try your hardest to make a pledge and do them all year? Maybe you'll pledge to stop using single use utensils or straws, or maybe you'll ride your bike to school every day! There are so many ways to help.

April 5 - Happy Easter

Happy Easter from all of us at Bella Luna Toys.

April 6 - Make Bee-Shaped Beads

Keep everything buzzing with these sweet bee-d's made from self-hardening clay. You can make an entire honeycombs worth of bees to share with friends and family or just a few, but we certainly think that wearing this sweet necklace will let the bees know that you appreciate how hard they work to keep our world blooming.

April 7 - Clean up your Local Park

Invite a group of friends and neighbors to help and bring trash bags, gloves, and any landscaping tools you may need like a rake. Then start to give some extra love to this special place.

April 8 - Crochet a Blossom Garland

With just a few tools and a touch of creativity, you'll soon be crafting your very own crochet flower branches. This simple yet rewarding craft is perfect for beginners and seasoned crocheters alike. So, let's gather our supplies and let the blossoming fun begin!

April 9 - Take Photos on a Nature Walk

Take some time to explore the sunshine today! Go on a nature walk and see what treasures you can find. Take a photo to remember your adventure.

April 11 - Make Your Own Knight Shield

Today's craft allows you to imagine what your shield would look like and what symbols might be part of your family crest. So grab some paint and markers and get ready to craft your very own coat of arms to protect you and your loved ones from all of the fierce dragons out there!

April 12 - Write a Poem About the Earth

Head outdoors with a notebook and pen in hand. Draw inspiration from nature and write a poem to celebrate our planet.

April 13 - Make Mythical Moss Stones

Today on the blog our sweet friend Laura, @cosy.waldorf.fam, has created this craft for us.

These Mythical Moss Stones are a very beginner friendly felt crafts project. It requires very few materials and is doesn't take much time making it the perfect little felt crafts project to bring some childhood magic into your home.

April 14 - Have a Fun Scavenger Hunt

Print off our Nature Scavenger Hunt and explore outside! There are two options - the first for younger children, and the second is a more robust hunt for older children.

April 15 - Have a Color of the Day Party

Today's color is yellow! Have a fun filled party with yellow.

April 16 - Fold Kite Paper Waldorf Window Stars

Folding Waldorf window stars is a fun and simple craft. You can make basic designs that are easy enough to involve young children or add additional steps to create more intricate shapes. Folding the colorful kite paper during quiet time is a relaxing way to center and focus your mind. They are beautiful when displayed in the window with light filtering through or hanging above a nature table in seasonal colors.

April 17 - Cook a Plant-Based Meal

April 18 - Make Pressed Flowers

Fill your paper pages with all of the plant life from your garden, hikes, and walks through the park. Press the flowers and leaves to create delicate flat dried and preserved flowers, ready to use in any art and craft activity.

April 19 - Make an Egg Carton Boat

Set sail on the high seas (or on the living room rug) with our Recycled Egg Carton Boats. Create the perfect vessel for your collection of wooden peg dolls to take a magical journey into play oceans. These sweet and simple boats are fun for all ages and made from materials every household has on hand.

April 20 - Have a Candle Hour at Dinner

Turn off the lights and have dinner by candlelight, thereby saving power. Lighting candles with dinner is also a wonderful way to signal to our bodies and our children that it is time to come together to eat and enjoy our family's company. You may find this becomes a daily ritual!

April 21 - Make Painted Story Stones

Story stones are a collection of stones painted with key story elements on them, for  example the ones we created; a butterfly, an owl, an acorn, a mushroom, and a bunny. The more pictures you paint, the more elaborate your story will be. Combining each picture will allow you to tell a unique story each time that you play with the stones. But the first step is finding the right rocks!

April 22 - Happy Earth Day!

Honor and celebrate our Earth by making a window transparency with kite paper.

April 23 - Craft a Finger-Knit Dragon

In this craft, we guide you in making your very own dragon puppet for dragon play and puppet shows. This classic finger-knitted and wool felt dragon will ignite imaginations to breathe fire and roar it's magic.

April 24 - Learn About Composting

Watch this SciShow Kids Video all about how compost is made. Encourage your friends and neighbors to make their own compost piles!

April 25 - Make a Magical Fairy Door

There are so many ways to make a fairy door but for this craft, we used birch bark which can be easily cut into a variety of shapes with household scissors. You can also use other bark, wood veneer, or even cardboard. The fun comes with adding the little decorations that will attract the fairies to open and see what is behind your unique fairy door!

April 26 - Ride Your Bike to School

Anytime we can use alternative transportation helps the Earth. Dedicate one day a week to riding your bike, a public bus or train, or walking to school.

April 27 - Decorate with these DIY Flower Suncatchers

We love this sweet project from Sunny of Northwoodsfolk and we think it's the perfect kick-off to summer. With flowers and botanicals gathered from your own garden, a hike, or a trip to the farmers market- this craft is certainly perfect for Solstice! We love every little detail and we know you will too.

April 28 - Create a Nature Mandala

April 29 -  Visit the Library

Discover the magic of reading and wonder that is all around at your local library. Libraries are incredible places that inspire young readers to explore new worlds, and best of all... it's free!

April 30 - Craft a Wand for May Day 

May Day is a traditional festival celebrated across the globe. We welcome spring and honor the changing of seasons from darkness to light with dancing, singing and stories. 

Today on the Moon Child Blog, Sunny from North Woods Folk on Instagram is helping us celebrate May Day and spring with a beautiful butteryfly wand, perfect for waving around as you dance and sing.
