February 2 - Celebrate Candlemas

Candlemas is a festival celebrating light, especially in the deep mid-winter when many of us in the north have very little of it! Candlemas is celebrated on February 2, the date that falls halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a celebration of the noticeable lengthening of the days.

February 3 - Make Some Wildflower Heart Seed Bombs

Nothing says "I love you," like trying to save the bees for someone! This Valentine's Day, you can give a gift that grows and helps support our pollinator populations. Hand them out with a native wildflower or a recycled paper card, and your loved ones will be thrilled. These DIY wildflower seed bombs are a great project for children, with something to do for every age.

February 4 - Make a "Things I Love" List

With love heavily in the air right now, create a list of all the many things there are to love that are all around us. Whether it is a bird at the bird feeder or the helpers that make our world better, focusing on gratitude expands the love exponentially.

February 5 - Make Scented Play Dough

Make some homemade play dough and mix in some calming essential oils to start the week off with a nice sensory activity to ground everyone as the month begins.

February 6 - Make an Embroidered Heart Garland

This simple craft can be done with children as young as three and can be expanded each year, growing with your family and creating a meaningful heirloom!

February 7 - Make a Nature Weaving Heart

Weave together the spirit of love and nature by making a simple woven heart project. Cut heart shapes out of a cardboard box and cut a few slits on either side of the heart.  String embroidery thread and wrap it around to create a loom. Gather some dried flowers, grasses, or other natural treasures and weave them into the loom to create a natural and heartfelt decoration for your home.

February 8 - Build with Ice

Freeze colored ice blocks and build with them outside. the weather is still chilly, take advantage! Freeze blocks of ice and see how tall you can stack them.

February 9 - Write a Poem About Someone You Love

Inspiration can come from anywhere. Today try your hand at creative writing and write a poem that rhymes about someone you love. Then turn it into a card to share with them on Valentine's Day. 

February 10 - Fold Kite Paper Window Hearts

Today on the blog craft a love-filled Waldorf-inspired kite paper heart to decorate your windows for Valentine's Day! This simple craft is perfect for a cozy afternoon together.

February 12 - Dye a Valentine's Day Playsilk

A bespoke play silk is the sweetest gift for the special little ones in your life. The craft of dyeing can seem daunting, but don’t worry! Today Jaime from The Barefoot Dyer walks us through creating beautiful bundle dyed play silks for your Valentine with our Natural Dye Kit. February 20 - Write a Song About Birds

February 23 - Craft Felt Bean Bags

Bean bags make wonderful playthings for children. They find so many uses for them beyond a simple bean bag toss game! In this tutorial I am going to show you how to make hand sewn wool felt bean bags with fanciful additions of needle felted designs! If you’ve been itching to learn how to needle felt, this is a great project to start with!

February 24 - Make Alphabet Soup

Nourish your tummy and your mind with some Alphabet Soup. Combine carrots, celery, potatoes, onion, and whatever vegetables you have on hand. Add some broth, water, and spices, and boil everything together. Add in some alphabet pasta at the end for a delicious and smart soup! 

February 25 - Embroidered Egg Craft

In this simple eco-friendly project, we'll be exploring the art of embroidery while upcycling our extra cardboard boxes to make adorable Easter decorations. Add some creativity to the Easter season and keep little hands busy with this craft that the entire family can enjoy.

February 26 - Write a Story About Friendship

February 28 - Decoupage a Wooden Easter Egg

Easter is April 5th this year! Start getting all your eggs into your basket and keep your little bunnies busy until Easter. Transform ordinary wooden eggs into Easter treasures using the charming art of découpage.
