September 17 - Learn About the Importance of Fairy Play
Fairies capture the imagination. They are magical beings who flit about bringing joy and encouraging wonder. Working with fairies inspires deep questioning and opens up doors for storytelling and open-ended play. Because of this, fairy play is an integral part of the Waldorf early childhood curriculum. At Bella Luna, we adore fairies and fairy play and how it connects children to imagination and nature.

September 28 - Bake a Michaelmas Treat for Tomorrow
While your bread bakes, tell the tale of St. George. In this story, St. George tames the dragon which symbolizes the inner courage it takes to face our human challenges. As winter’s chill descends, we must tap into our own inner light to bring levity to our world. Perhaps even taming your very own dragon!

With a nod to traditional Michaelmas dragon breads, this little layer cake is made with old-fashioned rolled oats and paired with the symbolic last blackberries of the season.
Top the cake with a dragon of your own design or use this one for inspiration. Don’t forget the stained-glass-like fiery flame and dragon’s wings for a final triumphant flourish.

September 29 - Celebrate Michaelmas
Every year on September 29th, Waldorf schools all over the world celebrate Michaelmas - St. Michael was an archangel in Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and his festival is one that can observed by people of all faiths and beliefs.
